Light Airborne

Working with artists, bringing the soul of the music and musicians to life through the limited media of a CD cover is one of the most challenging tasks as a graphic designer.

The music of Danish Jazz composer Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard can’t help but bring images to your mind. The beautiful, light and lyrical flow deeply grounded in the modern scandinavian jazz tradition combined with the constant feeling that somethings wrong. That something is lurking in the dark, ready to jump out and ruin all the pleasantness. This was what inspired me to do the cover for Niels.

With Light Airborne, Niels has made an amazing jazz recording. And it’s not just me saying so. The Danish Jazz Grammy Award for “Newcommer of 2008″ and the nominations for “Best jazz album of the year” and “Composer of the year” at the Danish Jazz Music Award, also indicates that this record is worth checking out.

The feeling of the flow is definitely “light airborne” and what is more light and airborne than Dandelion seeds in the air?
