kahlen_politiken_redesign_2008

The last 3 month I’ve been doing a really exciting freelance job. In fact it may be one of my dream assignments (at least when it comes to danish clients), that I can soon check of my list. I’ve been helping the internal online staff at Politiken redesign the entire online newspaper pollitiken.dk. The design needed a major overhaul to match the recent redesign of the paper version and to accommodate new possibilities on the web (social media, larger images, a more flexible layout and stuff like that).

The process (in brief) have included having workshops with different internal stakeholders, a short period of prototyping, concept development and style sketching and today we just finished the last round of designing the major page templates and bricks in this huge and complex modular design system.

In the safe hands & eyes of in-house designer Frederik Storm, who also played an essential part in the recent paper redesign process, Politikens internal staff will take over the process. They’ll finish the last tweeks and template designs themselves and after that the site will go into development. I have no idea when it’s going to launch, but it’ll sure take a while to code, since it’s a huge site.

Unfortunately, I can’t reveal more than this at the current time, but I promise you it will be a big leap forward and worth the wait for loyal Politiken readers.
